Vector recently announced that it has completed the adaptation of its MICROSAR Classic AUTOSAR Classic solution to XHEART's X7 advanced intelligent driving chip. The software now supports the Cortex-R52 core in X7's Functional Safety Island (FSI), including a released ASIL D functional safety version. It provides production-ready foundational software for intelligent driving applications in the era of large AI models.
X7 is designed around the efficient deployment of intelligent driving models, including single-stage end-to-end models and world models. Its dedicated ultra-large-core NPU architecture and hardware and software co-design support approximately 10 times as many model parameters as general-purpose chips, reducing latency and improving response and system efficiency. X7 also integrates a fully featured ASIL D MCU with dedicated compute, memory, communication and I/O resources. Its heterogeneous compute and integrated design support urban navigation-assisted driving (UNP) on a single chip.

Vector made targeted extensions and optimizations to MICROSAR Classic for X7, including:
1. Integration of an inter-processor communication (IPC) mechanism tailored to X7, with interfaces that enable safe transfer of critical data between the A-class and Cortex-R52 cores;
2. A lightweight veDoIP light module developed for the Cortex-R52 core's diagnostic requirements;
3. Support for configuring the X7 MCAL in DaVinci Configurator Classic, giving customers a consistent development experience and reducing tool-switching and learning costs.
These extensions enable MICROSAR Classic to coordinate key services such as SOME/IP and DoIP across cores through X7 IPC. Customers moving from a two-chip architecture to X7's single-chip driving solution can port existing software without major changes to interfaces or application logic. Reuse of existing software assets can improve communication efficiency while reducing system complexity and hardware cost.
Vector and XHEART completed early integration of MICROSAR Classic with the X7 FSI platform through joint debugging, advance verification and system-level testing. This pre-validated software platform can reduce customers' adaptation, integration and validation effort and accelerate development and mass production.
Vector will continue to support X7-based intelligent driving systems with its expertise in embedded foundational software, AUTOSAR, communication stacks, diagnostics, testing and toolchains. The companies will also deepen coordination between chip platforms and the in-vehicle software ecosystem for China's automotive market.
